Illegal Immigration - Solved

Ok, so here is the solution to illegal immigration.

1) Crossing the border illegally will be considered a felony, and subject to a three strikes and you're out policy. Upon completion of your prison terms for the first two felonies, you will be deported. Life in prison will follow the third conviction.

2) Law enforcement officers can at any time ask for proof of legal status of anyone they suspect (for any or no reason) might not be in the country legally. If you are found to be in the country with an illegal status, you will be convicted of a felony and imprisoned, and upon release from prison you will be deported. You can prove your status by producing valid work visa papers, or providing a taxpayer id that will be easily verifiable.

3) Anyone who is in the country illegally, but has broken no other laws, can apply to stay in the country indefinitely subject to the following:

a) They will never be allowed to become citizens and as such they will never have the right to vote

b) They will never receive any governmental assistance in the form of welfare, medicare, social security benefits

c) They will not be unemployed for any reason for any period greater than 60 days

d) They will pay full income taxes, social security taxes, and a special alien worker tax, the proceeds of which go into additional funding for the border patrol and prison systems. Note: Even though they will pay social security taxes, they will never be allowed to receive social security.

e) They must verify their employment and tax status on an annual basis, with verification coming from employers who will face steep fines for failing to provide such verification

f) Failure to comply with these will result in a felony conviction and imprisonment, followed by deportation

For those wishing to employ foreign workers
a) Employers must verify the legal status of all their employees including either valid work visas or valid social security numbers that are authenticated as belonging to the worker

b) Employers must openly advertise any job that they are willing to give to a foreign worker, and must prove that no U.S. workers applied for the job before giving it to a foreign worker.

c) Employers must provide some level of medical insurance coverage for their workers.

d) Employers will face stiff and mandatory fines for each and every violation. If the employer is a public company, then the CEO, COO, and CFO and all members of the company's board will face stiff fines for each and every violation. Fines will be in the amount of $100/hour for every hour worked by the illegal worker.

Note to the U.S. Govt: A critical part of my program calls for the ability to quickly and accurately verify the legal status of an individual. This does not have to be that complicated, and I, bigbarry2u, will contract right now for a measly $20 million to implement the solution.

Other:

1) No hospital, emergency service worker, or other welfare provider will be ALLOWED (vs. not required) to administer services of ANY KIND to someone who can not verify that they:

a) have insurance
b) or if they don't have insurance, that they have legal status and an ability to pay for any services they may require

Note: Hospitals will have no obligation or liabilities related to refusing care to anyone who can't prove the above. Emergency funds can be set up and voluntarily contributed to by individuals and charitable organizations to be used at the discretion of hospital management, but there is no obligation to expend money or resources beyond what is available in those emergency funds.

2) Children of illegal aliens will not be U.S. citizens no matter where they were born. Children who are already U.S. citizens will lose their citizenship if their parents are found to be in the country illegally.

3) Children of illegal aliens will not be allowed to attend U.S. public schools under any circumstance

4) Wire transfers from foreign workers from U.S. banks to foregin banks will be taxed at a rate of 10%, with the proceeds of the taxes going to fund additional border patrol programs and defray prison costs for housing illegal alien criminals.

5) Border patrol agents will be paid a minimum salary of $60,000/year.

I believe with this in place, we won't need to build a wall, and we will have the border secured in short order.

Let's see....What have I missed?
